I'm not on Twitter anymore. Do you have a facebook presence other than this, with some YouTube's? YouTube has been filled with virus' lately specifically and I'd really like to hear what you have to say. My whole family is addicted, to sugar. I want to eat well but just about everything is filled with it! Plus, the cravings, the illness etc is hard to deal with. Even my first grandaughter is addicted, and that was by age 2, with those gummie bear type "snacks, supposedly all fruit" that werent, but were pure corn syrup, with a touch of fruit and a tiny touch at that in them. She is still suffereing the affects of those, "fruit snack" for kids. But, I need more than ads, I need knowledge. My brother called and mentioned the stevia and said it was great. where do we start? I already have sugar problems, not diabetes but I can tell if I need to counteract it, with protein... any help, will be appreciated as to How to begin to get this sugar out of our lives.
you start with getting the good balance of minerals. alot of times sugar cravings are mineral cravings. fresh veggies and fruits (not together); seaweed or anything with seaweed, including sushi rolls! drink water, eat more often, so you don't get to the 'cravings' part of the day... find me @teaksmama on twitter. i would love to help another person be more healthy using food as the nourishment and medicine it is meant to be!
I have a blog- http://eatlessweighless.wordpress.com-- I have tons of links related to HFCS--I have been caffeine free and HFCS free since January. It is easy to do now. I have lost weight--best of all my BP is now in low normal range. I contribute that to change in diet alone--unable to be very active. The entire blog is informational. Haven't written in a while--got caught up in other things--but it is a great blog for informational purposes. Kate
Sugar addiction is a misnomer. And sweets as such aren't harmfulto a non-diabetic. As long as it's real sugar. Substitutes have drawbacks, and HCFS is the meanest one there is. Am one who is somewhat intolerant to ordinary fructose, and any amount of HCFS is too much. Sugar does not cause hyperactivity, either, but that's another story.
This video should be mandatory in schools. I have said for a long time that sugar makes you fat, but not being a scientist(only H.S.) I now have facts to back me up. I have a sugar addiction, but gave up sugar cold turkey, it was one of the easiest things I have ever done, surprised myself. I feel more healthy everyday.
As Lustig points out, fructose is fructose. It's all poison. So why the demonizing of HFCS?
I choose not to eat sugar of any kind. But I would never be foolish or arrogant enough to believe that I had a right to go around putting a gun to people's heads and saying, "If you make, buy, sell or eat this, I'll blow your brains out." And when you call for a "law" to "ban" anything, that's exactly what you're advocating. Except you don't have the courage of your convictions, or you'd strap a holster on and do the dirty work yourself. But by giving your crime the legitimacy of "law", you get to force everyone to pay the salaries of the people with guns who actually go out and arrest people, and shoot them if they don't go quietly.
